GPS

I am (and always have been) directionally challenged. Therefore, it came as no surprise to me when my mom announced that it was her intention to buy a handheld GPS as a joint Cyndi/Josh birthday present.

Neither Josh nor I has ever owned a GPS, so we really didn't have a point of reference for the good versus the bad. We were about to go on a trip to visit friends in Delaware and decided that we would hold off on ordering the system until we got back, partially because we hadn't had adequate time to research but mostly because we wanted to avoid the risk of having it stolen off the front porch before we got home.

Am I ever glad that we decided to hold off! While we were in Delaware, we were introduced to the Garmin GPS and were blown away by the functionality. It had a wide screen, was easy to use and had a gazillion different options for making road trips easier. It included a list of local restuarants and the option to download audio books to listen to during the trip.

Maybe every GPS has as many fun features as the Garmin, but I was certainly pleasantly surprised to find out how many bells and whistles it comes with!

Now if I can just get that iPhone, I'll be set!

The Studrawa Goal for August

My husband and I spent a great deal of the day doing (a long overdue) analysis of how our spending is measuring up to our budget. We were shocked to see how many of our hard-earned dollars have been contributed to the restaurant industry over the last several months.

Therefore, we've set a BIG, HAIRY, AUDACIOUS GOAL for ourselves for August!

Our goal is to eat in for the entire month!

That's right - 31 days of brown-bagging it to the office and spending our evenings at our own dining room table rather than one we have to tip for.

Easy recipes are always appreciated!
